Bryson DeChambeau tested positive for COVID-19, as part of the final testing protocol before leaving the United States for the 2020 Olympics in Japan. He will not be able to compete for the American team.
Patrick Reed will replace DeChambeau and undergo the required testing protocol today, Sunday and Monday before leaving for Japan. The first competition round is Thursday July 29 (local time). Reed is now the only two-time US Olympian for the men’s competition, having played for the US team in 2016 and will now compete in the 2020 Olympics.
Team USA Golf representation now includes Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Xander Sc Chaudele on the men, and Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Danielle Kang and Jessica Korda on the women.
