Buckeyes’ priority target arrives in Columbus for visit

The recruiting dead period is still in effect and the Buckeyes cannot host any recruits until at least April.

But if the rookies want to visit in their spare time, that’s okay, but without contact with the Ohio State coaches. So that’s what Raesjon Davis, four-star linebacker for Mater Dei, Santa Ana (California) is doing this weekend.

Davis is in Columbus to tour the city and see the state of Ohio for himself this weekend, a possible sign that the momentum is shifting in the Buckeyes’ favor for one of their two remaining unengaged targets. .

Buckeyes defensive co-coordinator Greg Mattison retires

After spending the past 41 years on the sidelines, Ohio State Defensive Co-Coordinator Greg Mattison has retired from football.

Mattison strengthened his legacy as one of football’s most respected defensive minds with two seasons at Ohio State before his retirement announcement on Friday.

Mattison has worked on both sides of the game, spending time with Michigan and the Buckeyes. He won a national championship while working with Urban Meyer in Florida. He worked at the highest level of the sport while serving on the staff of the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. And he built a reputation for putting up hard-hitting, fundamentally strong and stingy defenses wherever he went.
