Buckeyes ranked No. 5 in the AP Pre-Test

The Associated Press released Monday its pre-season college football poll in 2019, and the Buckeyes are back among the top of the rankings.

OSU ranks 5, behind the reigning national champion, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma.

The remainder of the top 10 includes JMU No. 6, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Notre Dame and No. 10 Texas.

Penn State is ranked 15th, Michigan State is 18th, Wisconsin is 19th, Iowa is 20th and Nebraska is 24th, despite a 4-8 season.

Other Big Ten teams and opponents of Buckeye in 2019 participated in the "Other Votes Received" section, including Northwestern, Cincinnati and Minnesota.

This is the first time Clemson has been ranked first in the AP preseason polls.

The Tigers obtained 52 of 62 possible votes in first place. Alabama had the other 10.
