The Bucs (6-3) are back in business as they hit the training ground Wednesday ahead of their Week 10 tilt to the Panthers (3-6).
Tampa Bay released their initial injury report for the week and everything looked pretty good outside of Rob Gronkowski, who didn’t train.
But don’t worry, my friends. Bruce Arians told reporters after training that Gronkowski’s day off was just that: a day off.
“Gronk just had a veteran day,” Arians said Wednesday. “Ali is in the final stages of the [concussion] protocol. We’ll wait and see to assess, but it looks like he did well. [We will] wait and see if he has recurring headaches.
We updated Ali Marpet’s status earlier today. The Bucs should have their best offensive lineman back in the saddle on Sunday, but we’ll obviously be watching that as the week goes on.
The Panthers are on the other end of the spectrum though, as Russell Okung and Christian McCaffrey haven’t practiced. McCaffrey is not scheduled to play on Sunday. Head coach Matt Rhule is optimistic Jeremy Chinn will play this week after missing last week’s game against the Chiefs. Chinn’s return would be a big boost for the Panthers’ defense.
“Jeremy is an impact player,” Rhule said Monday. “We hope it will be available this week.
The fact that I thought he might be playing the game in some sort of role would lead me to believe he might have a chance this week. But those knees it boils down to swelling and all these different things. And sometimes it’s out of our control. So I will see tomorrow and Wednesday if he is able to do anything on Wednesday in training.
Check back for updates throughout the week.
