The Bills beat the Ravens 17-3 on Saturday in the AFC Division Round. During the game, the Ravens lost quarterback Lamar Jackson in the third quarter due to concussion protocol.
Bills fans – nicknamed the Bills Mafia – wanted to show their support for the injured NFL player. They used Reddit to find out about Jackson’s favorite charity, CNN affiliate WLKY-TV reported.
After Bills fans learned that Jackson had a long-standing relationship with Blessings in a Backpack, the nonprofit said donations for the organization were pouring in.
The organization works to feed “schoolchildren in the United States who are currently fed during the week under the federal free and reduced meal program and are at risk of going hungry on weekends,” according to its website.
“Thank you, #BillsMafia for your support of Blessings in a Backpack to feed the children of #Louisville and the country in honor of @ Lj_era8!” organization tweeted Sunday, tagging Jackson’s username.
The Louisville chapter received more than $ 75,000 on Saturday night, according to WLKY-TV. The program has now increased its efforts due to Covid-19, according to its website.
Bills fans are known to have a charitable heart. In 2017, they donated Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton money. Earlier in the 2020 season, Bills fans also donated money to a children’s hospital following the death of Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s grandmother, according to ESPN.

The Ravens have shown their support for the generosity of Bills fans.

“Respect, @BuffaloBills and #BillsMafia”, the team tweeted on Sunday, link to a tweet that shared news about Bills fan donations.

After their win on Saturday, the Bills head to the AFC Championship, where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs to determine who will make the Super Bowl.
