The University of Buffalo in upstate New York has indefinitely suspended all fraternity and sorority activities after the death of a freshman, suspected of quirks, officials said from school.
Sebastian Serafin-Bazan, 18, was hospitalized Friday in an off-campus home connected to the Sigma Pi fraternity. The student had "a serious illness following a possible hazing incident," said President Satish K Tripathi in a press release.

More information about what happened in the off-campus house was not immediately clear. Sigma Pi on Wednesday tweeted that the fraternity "is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Sebastian Serafin-Bazan".
"We send our sincere condolences to Sebastian's family and friends during this extremely difficult time," the organization added. They said they cooperate with university and police representatives in their investigation.
Sigma Pi has more than 120 chapters in the United States and Canada, including twenty at the Buffalo School, according to the university.
