Former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” cast Danny Strong, Adam Busch and Tom Lenk also defended the actress’ claims.
David Boreanaz has spoken out on allegations of misconduct against Joss Whedon, joining a growing group of alumni Buffy the Vampire Slayer and angel cast members to support their former co-star, Charisma Carpenter.
Danny Strong, Adam Busch, and Tom Lenk – Buffy’s “Trio” of villains from season six – also gave Carpenter their online support, as did his former one. angel co-star Amy Acker.
Last week, Carpenter accused Whedon of “traumatizing” her on set and creating an environment that is both “hostile” and “toxic”.
“Joss Whedon abused his power numerous times while working together on sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel,” she wrote about the show’s creator. “The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a pounding and heavy heart that I say that I have faced isolation and, at times, destructive ways.”
Sunday, Boreanaz (now leading on CBS ‘ The SEAL team) responded to Carpenter’s Twitter statement, writing: “I’m here for you to listen to you and support you. Proud of your strength. “
Carpenter replied, “I know you are there for me, David. I appreciate all you have done to demonstrate this support in private as well. Especially since Wednesday. Thank you very much.”
Following Carpenter’s statement last week, my colleague Buffy Star Sarah Michelle Gellar intervened with a brief comment on social media. “While I’m proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with Joss Whedon’s name. I’m more focused on raising my family and surviving a pandemic currently, so I won’t be making any further statements at this time. But I’m with all abuse survivors and I’m proud of them for speaking out. “
Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy Dawn’s younger sister on the WB drama series, thanked Gellar on her Instagram account and noted as a 35-year-old woman she is now “brave enough” to repost this. She further stated that there was a rule, saying: “He is no longer allowed to be alone in a room with Michelle”.
Eliza Dushku, who appeared in Buffy and the derivative series angel as Faith, and James Marsters who played Spike, with Buffy writer Marti Noxon, also entered the conversation in favor of Carpenter.
During the weekend, Loud tweeted let him “send love and support” to Carpenter, Gellar, Trachtenberg, comrade Buffy actress Amber Benson “and everyone who has gone public about their toxic experiences on” the series. Busch and Lenk makes similar statements on social media, and Acker wrote that “Although I have personally had a good professional experience, it is heartbreaking to hear that not everyone has done so.… I offer love and support to all who speak out for tell their truths.
