This is the Bugatti Divo “Lady Bug” – one-of-a-kind custom work for one customer, according to a press release. With a starting price of around $ 6 million for the Divo itself, it’s unclear what Lady Bug’s final price is. But what is clear is that the car is breathtaking.

Approximately 1,600 diamond shapes make up the pattern. Each has been checked and realigned to fit perfectly.

Bugatti recently created a one-of-a-kind personalized Divo for a customer, nicknamed the “Lady Bug” Divo.

This is one of 40 examples of Divo that Bugatti will ever build.

The Divo wears a rich red coat of paint and an diamond-patterned design that took about two years.

The US-based client wanted a geometric pattern in the shape of a diamond.

They also wanted the car in contrasting metallic “Customer Special Red” and “Graphite” paints.

Applying the diamond patterns to the car was a very difficult task.

Due to the fact that the Divo has a lot of surface contours, the 2D printed diamond pattern looked “warped” when applied to the car.

“Due to the nature of the project, where a 2D graphic was applied to a 3D sculpture, and after many unsuccessful ideas and attempts to apply the diamonds, we were about to give up and say, ‘We can’t not meet customer demand, “” Jörg Grumer, color and finish manager at Bugatti, said.

The team ended up using transfer film and gluing the 1,600 or so diamonds to the body and making small adjustments if needed.

After painting, every diamond was removed and the car was repainted to smooth out any imperfections.

This part of the job alone took over two weeks. But here is the result.

The colors smoothly fade into each other.

Up close you can really appreciate the complexity of the work.

Each diamond is slightly different from the next.

You could almost spend all day staring at this thing.

From a distance, the pattern creates a cool gradient.

The Divo uses an 8.0-liter W12 engine that produces nearly 1,500 horsepower.

It has a limited top speed of around 236 mph.

All Divos are built at Bugatti headquarters in Molsheim, France.

Deliveries started in August 2020.

All the Divos have been spoken and will be delivered this year.

We do not know how much the Divo “Lady Bug” costs.

But the $ 6 million starting price of a regular Divo should give you an idea.
