According to European statistics, 17,105 million Europeans, including 13,570 million euro area, were unemployed in the sixth month of last year, compared to May, with a slight increase in the number of unemployed in the EU by 4,000, while the number of unemployed in the euro area increased by 14,000 in one month. However, compared with June 2017, the total number of unemployed Europeans decreased by 1.657 million, of which 1.146 million in the single currency unit
The lowest unemployment rate in June was registered in the Czech Republic (unemployment rate of only 2.4%), followed by Germany (3.4%), while the highest unemployment rate remains in Greece (20.2%) but according to Eurostat data for April 2018 (a) and Spain (15.2% in June 2018).
In June, a total of 3,415 million young people under the age of 25 were unemployed in the EU (youth unemployment rate of 15.2%), which represents a fall in youth unemployment 386 000 compared to the previous year, while the unemployment of young Europeans was 16.8%.
Eurostat also reported data suggesting that unemployment in Bulgaria fell to 4.8% from 4.9% in May and well below the 6.2% unemployment rate reported a year ago (June 2017- a). It is the lowest unemployment since Eurostat exists for our country since 2000.
According to this indicator, our country ranks tenth among the 28 European Union countries having the highest rate of unemployment in the world. unemployment rate is one of the 19 Member States where the unemployment rate is lower than the European average
In the sixth month of the year, only 160 000 Bulgarians were unemployed, compared with 165 000 in May and 209,000 unemployed just one year ago (June 2017), according to Eurostat's current data. This is the smallest number of unemployed Bulgarians since the statistics for our country have existed since the beginning of the distant year 1995.
The level of youth unemployment in Bulgaria decreased in June to 10, 9% vs. 11.1% the previous month and 14.2% a year earlier, while in the sixth month of the jobless year, there were 16 thousand Bulgarian young people under 25 years old against 17,000 in May and 25,000 a year earlier (in June 2017)
Eurostat data also show that female unemployment has stabilized for a second consecutive month at a record level of only 4 , 4% against 5.7% a year ago, while male unemployment fell in June 5.2% against 5.3% a month earlier and 6.6% in June 2017.
