American star Rivian Automotive, led by former McLaren and Harley-Davidson executives, presented its first model – the R1T electric pickup. The SUV, whose production will start in 2020, will cost $ 61,500. Given the popularity of ocean vans, R1T has a very serious potential as it offers very robust power and high mileage at a price that is not. top
The Rivian R1T is superior to the Mercedes-Benz X-Clbad: the electric pickup has 135 mm more and 95 mm more, with a shorter wheelbase of 75 mm compared to the X-Clbad (3075 vs 3150 mm ). With a clearance of 360 mm and a depth of 1 meter deep, the Rivian R1T promises serious off-road qualities. The guarantee is also the angle of approach and exit respectively 34 and 30 degrees.
A unique feature of the Rivian pickup is the 350-liter luggage rack, located between the cabin and the luggage rack. Another rack is open at the place where the engine is normally placed under the hood. Its volume is 330 liters. The load capacity of the model is 800 kg and can weigh up to 3500 kg.
And now, let's pay attention to the most important parameters for an electric vehicle. His training is provided by four electric motors, with a total power of 760 hp. and 1120 Nm of torque in its most powerful version (147 kW per wheel). Final refinement is absolutely necessary as the Rivian R1T will be available in three versions: 300 kW (560 Nm), 562 kW and 522 kW. Curiously, the most powerful version will not be powered by the most powerful battery. And they are three, their capacity is respectively 103, 135 and 180 kWh. With these parameters, the sensor will accelerate from 0 to 96 km / h during respectively 4.9, 3.2 and 3.2 seconds and the maximum speed of the three versions will be 160 km / h. The most important is that the largest lithium-ion battery offers a range of 640 km, while the smallest – about 400 km.
To protect the lithium-ion battery, the pickup floor is reinforced with kevlar and carbon. R1T is based on an adaptive air suspension.
The production of the model will take place at the former Mitsubishi Motors plant in Norman, Illinois. Last year, it was purchased for $ 16 million. The potential of the factory itself is considerable: 350,000 cars a year, but Rivian 's projects are rather modest: 50 to 60,000 vans per year by 2025.
