240 new cases of AIDS have been detected since the beginning of the year. This was announced by Dr. Tonka Varleva, director of the program "Prevention and Control of HIV / AIDS" at the Ministry of Health, writes "Monitor".

With them, the total number of people with HIV from 1983, when the first case was established in Bulgaria, does not exceed 2,700 people, added Dr. Virleva.

According to her, newly discovered cases are incomparably less numerous than in most European countries. Last year, the AIDS virus was diagnosed in 242 people for the same period.

Nearly 79 million people have been infected with HIV for 35 years. More than 35 million people have died as a result of AIDS-related development.

The data show that the most vulnerable age groups are young people who are already starting to have a bad life of 15 to 19 years and people of working age from 20 to 44 years old.

Our country is doing well compared to other countries with regard to infection. It is 5.7 per 100,000 in our country, while in other countries it is 2.8 per 100,000, she said, recalling that the treatment of retrovirus is free of charge. Bulgaria.

In 1996, three-component antiretroviral therapy was introduced, resulting in an increase in the life of infected patients by more than 20 years. Factors that interfere with the treatment are alcohol or high stress levels, for example.

About 20,000 BGNs come from the treatment of someone infected with the AIDS virus each year. Depending on the condition, dosage and combination of antiretroviral therapy, the amount may vary, but marginally. At 300,000 BGN, the treatment rate of an infected person for 15 to 20 years is the same as the survival rate of the HIV virus.

Flu-like symptoms two weeks after the infection suggest an infection, doctors reminded. Over the next five to eight years, or even ten years, it is asymptomatic. When the virus reaches a higher level in the body, frequent concomitant infections with other diseases begin, such as the fungus being the most common.

Free and anonymous tests on the AIDS virus will be conducted by November 30 in 27 cities across the country. They are part of the European Week of HIV Testing and Viral Hepatitis. The tests and consultations will take place in the cities of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardjik, Pernik, Pleven, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Haskovo , Shumen and Yambol.
