Honey production has dropped an average of about 60% this year. This was announced in the show "Before All" on BNR Nikolay Kumenov – President of the Federation of Bulgarian Beekeepers. To explain this serious decline, he highlighted the prolonged rainfall during the year.
"We have exported about 12-15,000 tons of honey, we will now have about 7-8,000 tons."
Kumanov also pointed out that bee mortality has increased considerably. According to him, this is due to the use of pesticides banned in the EU.
However, beekeepers have not received any state support under the de minimis regime, which applies in an unfavorable year.
"The Minister of Agriculture is justified by the fact that NVS has recorded very little mortality. The discrepancy of the data comes from the fact that some beekeepers do not record any mortality of a family. bees because of the bureaucracy "Kumanov explained.
A protest statement from beekeepers contains a claim for payment of a "pollination fee" for each registered bee family – 60 euros per year to be received in the area. According to him, at the European level, the proposal has a chance.
The statement also contains a request for incriminating unregulated crops. Beekeepers insist on controlling the illegal import of banned pesticides in Bulgaria:
"The beekeeper does not suspect that someone has ever treated such a thing – he takes his honey, will sell it and at some point it turns out that there is such pesticides in honey, so this copper has nothing to do. "
The national beekeeping event is scheduled for December 10th.
