The creator of the famous animated series "Sponge Bob Square Pants", Stephen Hillenberg died at 57, announced the television channel Nicoladeon.

The presenter, screenwriter and director recently revealed that he has been suffering from amyotic lateral sclerosis, also called motor neuron disease or Lou Gehry's disease.

His most famous work is the series of a square and yellow hero, now a cult, in two feature films, a series of books and a Broadway musical. The animation wins the Emmy Award and is broadcast in nearly 250 episodes in more than 200 countries worldwide.

A former professor of marine biology in Southern California, Hillenberg began creating marine imagery as a medium of instruction. He then went on television and participated in the show Roco Modern Life.

He created "SpongeBob Square Pants", which premiered in 1999 and has become a worldwide hit, duplicated in more than 60 languages. Hillenberg also became a scriptwriter, producer, and director of the 2004 feature film for the hero who achieved a worldwide turnover of $ 140 million.

In 2016, in an interview, he says that he originally thought that the series would only reach four seasons, but he was clearly wrong.
