Prime Minister Boyko Borisov held another important meeting at the Council of Ministers today. The GERB manager discussed energy sector issues with representatives of employers 'and unions' organizations at a meeting of the Council of Ministers. Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Minister of Energy, Temenujka Petkova, Chairman of the National Assembly Energy Committee, Delyan Dobrev, Presidents of the Confederation of Trade Unions Independent, Podkrepa, Plamen Dimitrov and Dimitar Manolov, CEIBG and AIKB President Kiril Domuschiev Velev, as well as representatives of BIA, BCCI and BFIEC. The union presidents raised the question of preserving the capacity of the Maritsa East energy complex and explained the reasons for their protest actions. Minister Petkova briefed the meeting on the steps taken by the government in this regard. She stressed that the mines and thermal power plants in the Maritsa Basin were of strategic importance for the functioning of the energy system of Bulgaria and the region. We also discussed our country's position for the next climate change conference in Katowice, Poland. The position of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted by the Council of Ministers does not support more ambitious targets for carbon emissions.

According to the representatives of employers' organizations, measures should be taken to complete the process of liberalization of the Bulgarian energy sector. The meeting participants came together to sell electricity at market prices to ensure the long-term stability of the sector.
