The new Soul EV is equipped with a new 64 kWh liquid ion polymer battery with water cooling, cobalt reduction and a new NCM blend in an 8: 1: 1 ratio (80% Nickel , 10% cobalt and 10% manganese). The new battery is characterized by a higher energy density than existing NCM batteries. The end result is significantly increased mileage compared to the previous model and the combined load system (CCS), which is part of the standard equipment of the model, allows a faster charge of the battery.
The problem is that we do not say exactly how long it is and what is the mileage traveled. And if the first parameter can not be guessed, then it could be suggested for mileage. The same battery is fitted in the KIA Niro EV, which would offer an autonomous mileage of 484 km (301 miles) in accordance with the WLTP standard. This makes us think that the new Soul will offer a truly impressive standalone mileage. The European market will appear in the first half of 2019.
The battery is powered by a 204 hp front axle. and 395 Nm of maximum torque (285 Nm for the current model). The new Soul EV offers four driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and Eco +.
The intelligent braking system, controlled by the steering wheel, is a curious detail. It allows drivers to reduce their speed and store more kinetic energy, providing extra mileage. It also has a "Stop and Hold" function, which allows the driver to use the "feathers" of the steering wheel to completely defuse the car, thus retaining kinetic energy.
The Soul EV is equipped with a large number of features designed to increase safety, improve driving sensations and facilitate the overall operating process. Technologies include a turn-by-wire controller, an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touch screen and a rear-facing camera with parking guidance.
