P the next session of the 49th BSP Congress is being held today at the National Palace of Culture. It was convened by decision of the National Council of the Party of May 28, 2019.

The fifth session is convened at the request of BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, who has badumed full responsibility for the results of Eurovision and resigned as chairman of the party.

Cornelia Ninova resigned

According to the Constitution of BSP, Congress is the body that can resign, which is one of the items on the agenda of the meeting.

Another important point is the launch of a direct election procedure for a leader of the BSP.

The main document of the party stipulates that the president of the BSP must be elected directly by an elected party, under the conditions defined by the National Council of the party. Voting for the leader's seat is considered normal if more than half of the BSP members are involved.

The direct election of the party president is one of the changes to the Statute, which gave birth to Kornelia Ninova herself as soon as she led the BSP.

Meanwhile, several weeks before the convening of the convention, a number of party structures from across the country supported Kornelia Ninova and expressed their disagreement with his resignation. Among them are the BSP organizations of Stara Zagora, Pazardzhik and several others. The highest body of the party will deal with the political report of the National Council of the BSP "on the results of the elections of the deputies and the preparation of the BSP in the next local elections".

The Sunday Congress must decide to elect a president until February, by which date, by direct vote, the full party or one of Ninova's deputies will temporarily badume his duties until the next day. what the selection rules are specified. Cornelia Ninova has already submitted her candidacy for the presidency. The contenders for his post should be Krbadimir Yankov, who is also an official candidate. Valeriy Zhablyanov, who was until last year's Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly but was removed from office, is also in favor. Kostadin Paskalev and Dora Yankova are among the possible names of a leftist leader.
