More flights were canceled today at Munich Airport, after a portion of it was temporarily closed Saturday for the dismissal of a woman to a checkpoint. A spokesman for the airport announced that 12 flights had been canceled in the morning.
The normal operation of the airport was violated on Saturday after police had learned that a woman had crossed the monitored area without being controlled by the staff. At least 200 flights were canceled on the same day and another 60 were delayed at the second busiest airport in Germany at the height of the summer break. About 700 people had to sleep on airport beds last night, and hundreds stayed in hotels.
Law enforcement officials said the woman was identified after a few hours of unsuccessful research, but declined to give details of the consequences she may suffer.
