BMW adds a cheaper luxury hatch to the Australian lineup

BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is the most isolated sedan in the world.

The body shape usually reserved for mainstream and general public cars is resigned to a niche segment that she occupies on her own.

Oddball's big luxury car shares its fundamentals with the more well-known 5 Series. But instead of adopting a majestic body, the 6 Series GT could be considered a hatch, a wagon or a coupe – depending on your point of view – and its higher sitting position gives the luxury machine an SUV quality .

Now BMW Australia has added a new entry-level variant to extend the range to three.

Starting at $ 99,900 (before roads), the new 620d drops the GT range below the $ 100,000 mark.

The new price point represents a significant discount on the 630i and 640i, which are $ 123,500 and $ 148,529, respectively.

<p>
	  The German manufacturer hopes that the reduced price is attracting some interest in the 6 GT series, a slow seller up to now in 2018 with only 64 copies en route .

<p>
	  BMW loaded the 620d leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, digital radio, 12 speakers, a head-up display, an infotainment screen of 10 , 25 inches and an automatic tailgate series.
</p>
<p>
	  The strengths of the GT safety suite are autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, front and rear cross traffic alert and lane keeping badistance.

<p>
	  Marc Werner, director of BMW Australia, says the 620d is better equipped than its 520d and that it offers a larger interior space.
</p>
<p>
	  "The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has been well received for its combination of luxury, interior space, performance and efficiency," says Werner.
</p>
<p>
	  "The 620d is stylish with the standard luxury line, while offering an increase in specification and space compared to the 520. It's a fantastic introduction to the Gran Turismo 6 series. "
</p>
<p>
	  However, this is not all-inclusive. Additional options that add thousands to the list price include 20-inch alloy wheels and heated seats.
</p>
<p>
	  The power of the luxury hatch comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel (140 kW / 400 Nm) paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
</p>
<p>
	  The GT 620d will be available in Australia from October.
