The Gran Coupe is over 5 meters long and will also receive two M versions
The BMW 8 Series gained a new addition after a coupe and convertible joined a 4-door version – the Gran Coupé. It is built on the already familiar coupe but is larger in size.
In order to accommodate two pbadengers on a second row of seats, the distance between the two axles is increased by 200 mm. In total, the length of the vehicle has increased by 203 mm and reached 5082 mm. The height is also higher – 61 mm. The changes led to weight gain in the larger series 8 with 70 kg.
In addition to the two extra doors, the body of the Gran Coupé also has a roofline that leaves more space for rear pbadengers. A boot spoiler has been added to improve the aerodynamics of the machine.
The cab configuration of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé can be described as 4 + 1, as the third pbadenger in the back row would have difficulty making a long trip. Regardless of the engine, the gearbox is only one – the 8-speed automatic, and the 4-car drive. There will also be an 840i rear-wheel drive version where the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 5.2 seconds. The 840i xDrive requires 4.9 seconds for the same exercise, while the high-end 850i xDrive is 3.9 seconds. The 840d xDrive diesel lifts 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds.
The launch of the model is scheduled for September 2019. The BMW M8 Gran Coupé, with a power of 600 hp, will also be available later, as well as the BMW M8 Competiton Gran Coupé, which develops 625 hp.
