The recently announced Surface Go is Microsoft's biggest attempt to use its surface line to dislodge the iPad. The entry-level model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $ 399, and the only upgrade version originally announced by Microsoft was a $ 549 model with 8GB of RAM and an SSD 128 GB. Neowin just spotted, there might be a way to go. Costco has a model listed with 4GB of RAM and the 128GB SSD, plus a Surface Type coverage (usually $ 100) for $ 549. If you take out the value of the Surface Type cover, it's about $ 450, which would be a perfect mid-range model.
As you might expect, the rest of the specifications on the laptop appear to be the same as what Microsoft announced earlier this month. That means a 10 x 1800 x 1200 screen that Microsoft calls PixelSense, because you can not let Apple call its "Retina" screens without waiting for the rest of the tech world to do the same. The processor inside is an Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor, there is a pair of cameras, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Dolby certified stereo speakers. More importantly, the Surface Go has a thickness of 8.3mm and weighs just over one pound, while still maintaining a USB-C port for charging and a microSD card reader, which offers much more power. Costco has the median surface Go up pre-order with a release date on August 2nd. Of course, you must be a Costco member to order it.
