Cristiano Ronaldo, the superstar, already on Juventus, was sentenced to two years in prison by the Spanish judicial authorities for tax evasion in his day as a Real Madrid player. Kingdom legislation allows to avoid punishment (if it occurs within 24 months) and will be replaced by a financial penalty of 19 million euros.

The top Portuguese scorer and the tax authorities negotiated the amount after several CR7 bids were rejected. Ronaldo was accused of hiding taxes on his image rights between 2011 and 2014, rising to 14.7 million euros. He had to plead guilty to avoid an effective conviction.
