Garage Italia's Spiaggina is a unique way to celebrate the Fiat 500's birthday

Translating to beach-ette, the 21st century Italian beach stroller embodies the Dolce Vita aesthetic of the late 50s and early 60s. The lowered windshield, slatted cork panels that give the impression of the teak floor of a yacht, the old-school alloy wheels wrapped in white tires and the lack of rear seats are the elements that distinguish the Garage Italia Spiaggina from the crowd. A beautiful machine, is not it?

"11 years have pbaded since the revival of the model on July 4, 2007 and today, thanks to Garage Italia, I decided to celebrate and renew an Italian icon by working with my center. design to create the Spiaggina by Garage Italia, " said Lapo Elkann. "I'm sure this car will inspire people to imagine, dream and interpret the Italian way of enjoying the life that has inspired the world for generations."

In addition to the concept car, Fiat decided to roll out the special edition Spiaggina '58 in tribute to the original. Limited to 1,958 copies and exclusively available in convertible version based on the 500C, the car features an ivory soft top, a white belt liner, a Volare blue paint and rims of 16 inches. The side moldings with the 500 badges, the chrome mirror caps, the vintage badges, and the Spiaggina & 58 on the italic chest are other details that make this Fiat a little more special.

The interior is in tune with the outside of the Spiaggina's 58, and as you can see from the infotainment system's size, it's not the same. is the HD Live Touch Screen Radio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mirror plus TomTom satellite navigation. On the other hand, what is hidden under the hood is not likely to be to your liking if you care about internal combustion.

Of all the engines available for the 500, including the 1.4-liter turbo in the Abarth, the automaker decided to go ahead with the four-cylinder 1 , 2 liter for this application. The 69 horsepower engine is the entry-level option in the Old Continent, where the 500 is also available with the 0.9 TwinAir and the 1.3 MultiJet

Why is the 1.2 Fire such a disappointment , ask yourself? The 1.2 liter that we have today has modern technology like variable valve timing and multipoint sequential injection, but for one reason or another, Fiat has given it two ( !!!) valves per cylinder.
