Berlin / Ankara. The Federal Government of Germany has decided to abolish the economic constraints against Turkey and to adapt its advice to the citizens of the West German region, reports the Hurriyet newspaper stating that Berlin made the decision after Ankara cancel the emergency regime.
Turkey's export restrictions reaching 1.5 billion euros ($ 1.7 billion) will not be renewed this year, said German Minister of Economy Peter Altmayer confirming an earlier report by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The measure was imposed in July 2017 to put pressure on Turkey after a German human rights activist and five other activists, including the head of the local office of the non-governmental organization Amnesty International, were detained in the country
The German Foreign Ministry has also removed from the official website of the department warnings about the high risk of arbitrary arrests for German citizens visiting Turkey.
The extraordinary situation in Turkey imposed after the 2016 coup d'état was canceled on July 19th. A day later, Turkey and the Netherlands restored their diplomatic relations, which were interrupted after the European party's decision not to allow two ministers from Ankara to participate in a rally in Rotterdam.
