The British manufacturer Land Rover plans to extend its cooperation with Chery Auto, the largest Chinese manufacturer. The two companies plan to create a common brand for car production in China and Europe.
This approach was chosen by Volvo and Geely, who created in 2016 the Lynk & Co brand, specializing in the development of autonomous cars and their use to crush (share a single vehicle of a group of people). The first will be a serial version of the Exeed TX crossover presented by Chery at the Frankfurt Motor Show last autumn
At the premiere of the Chery concept car, the platform was created with the Benteler company, the four-wheel drive system was manufactured by Dana and BorgWarner and the gearbox bears the Getrag brand.
According to experts, cooperation between Jaguar Land Rover could lead to the revival of the Rover brand, which was closed in 2005, after which rights to this property became the property of Ford. With Ford's purchase of Tata Motors' Jaguar and Land Rover brands, the Indians have also received Rover, so there will be no problem with its recovery.
Officially, JLR has announced that it does not intend to divide this brand and that its return to the market is not yet planned. However, this situation may change rapidly, and Rover will become an important part of the future expanded cooperation between the British and the Chinese Chery.
