Nvidia now confirms previous rumors that the company will hold a special event just before the Gamescom gaming convention in Germany. Called the GeForce Gaming Celebration, the event will take place off-site Aug. 20 at a location that the company currently keeps secret. Anyone in the Cologne area in Germany can participate in the event by registering here.

"Space is limited, so be sure to arrive early – you can not do it in person – do not worry, it will be broadcast live," says the company. "The event will be filled with new hands-on demos on upcoming top games, live presentations from the world's biggest video game developers and spectacular surprises."

One of the "surprises" "should be the additional graphics card GeForce GTX 1180, and perhaps even the GTX 1170 and GTX 1160. These are the new generation of graphics cards eagerly awaited by the company based on its new design" Turing ", ignoring the design "Volta" of the company currently used in graphics cards for the professional market.

Rumors of the event surfaced in early July as Nvidia discreetly distributed invitations to the press. supposed to be the typical all-expenses paid trips to the then-secret event in Germany, which means that Nvidia probably has more to show than practical demonstrations and presentations from game developers. Nvidia will use this event to present its new GTX 11 series, followed by a commercial release early August

An email from one of Nvidia's hardware partners surfaced last week, giving an overview of the calendar of Nvidia's new graphics. cards. Sent to a retailer, the e-mail indicated that the GTX 1180 would arrive on August 30, followed by the GTX 1170 and the GTX 1180+ on September 30. The 2018 Annex would be completed by GTX 1160 of 30 October.

According to the email, Nvidia and its hardware partners have delayed the launch of the GTX 11 series because of the current flooding of the GTX 10 series cards. It's a different perspective by compared to July 2017, when the cards were hard to find – or heavily inflated in price – due to the craze of mining cryptocurrency. Manufacturers have released additional cards to compensate, but now the market is flooded due to the dramatic drop in the exploitation of digital parts.

"We have a stock of 10xx GPUs and we are moving to 10xx manufacturing as the letter indicates, since we and the other partners and manufacturers have an abundance of unfinished or unsold 10xx GPUs, Nvidia has decided to delay the release of 11xx cards. "

Having said that, Gamescom is the perfect time to reveal new cards and liquidate the current stock with rebates on the theme of Gamescom. According to Nvidia, the event "will be filled with some awesome new PC games running on the latest GeForce hardware" with "some spectacular surprises." If you are in the area and want to attend, register now because of the limited space of the event. First come, first served, warns Nvidia.
