The Philadelphia Fusion are heading to Brooklyn to face the London Spitfire at the grand finale of the Overwatch League. The New York Excelsior season is now over. Despite a dominant record of 34-6 in the regular season, their loss to Philadelphia means that New York has failed to qualify for the Grand Final in their home town.
The series followed the first clash on Wednesday, where the Philadelphia Fusion clean swept the NYXL 3-0. In this clash, Excelsior seemed stale and lagged behind the other playoff teams. It was an interesting run for both teams this season. New York was without a doubt the best team in the league up to this point. If their loss against the Fusion diminishes this legacy is still to be seen. Nevertheless, it is disappointing that after such a shocking run through the regular season, they could not put things together for the semi-finals.
Philadelphia, on the other hand, was fickle for most of the season. Their playoff position was never guaranteed and they were definitely neglected for the majority of the season.
