On the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche unveiled the eighth generation of the 911. The 992 Factory Factory was virtually from scratch but retained the look of its predecessor.
The new 911 is slightly larger than the previous model. The front, for example, is wider than 45 mm. The Porsche does not report the remaining gauges, but it is already clear that the body has a longer wheelbase and cantilever.
The front wheels are 20 and the rear 21 inches. The handles are "dug out" in the doors and the ribbed hood reminds the first generations of the cult model.
First of all, 992 will be equipped with a sophisticated front-loading boxer from the previous generation. The 3.0-liter engine features a fuel injection system, different turbochargers and an optimized mid-air cooler.
In the Carrera S and Carrera 4S versions, the sixth axle produced 450 hp, 30 more than the predecessor. The gearbox is a new eight-speed robot and two clutches.
With this engine, the change of the rear wheel goes from 0 to 100 for 3.7 seconds and the Carrera 4S with four-wheel drive – in 3.6. The Sport Chrono package improves acceleration time by 0.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Carrera S is 308 km and Carrera 4S – 306 km / h.
In the main room at 992, a 10.9-inch diagonal screen appeared. Below is a compact switch with five buttons for quick access to the most important functions of the car.
There are two uninterrupted screens on both sides of the clbadic dashboard tachometer. For the first time in the history of 911, there is a night vision system with a thermal camera.
A new wet motion mode will be available for 992. The Porsche Wet feature detects when the road is slippery and informs the driver of the need to enter the appropriate settings.
Porsche is already accepting orders for the new 911 on the Carrera S and Carrera 4S. The base price of the rear-wheel drive version is 120,125 euros and that of the double-draft version of 127,979 euros.
