The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reported that a failure of the transformer had caused a fire that had been extinguished for 20 minutes and had not been sacrificed. These days, the state of Caspian is under the influence of a warm wave and temperatures reach more than 40 degrees Celsius.
This led to an increase in current consumption. Due to the accident, the capital of Baku and nearly 40 other cities remained in the dark. The capital's food was restored for several hours. The province's electricity supply continues.
Electricity is already provided for all vital sites in Azerbaijan, announced the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and Azerinje company. The situation is under control, the power supply is restored. Although last night's crash was suppressed, due to its negative effects tonight, in some places, the current supply is limited.
The reason for the power failure was an accident in a nodal substation of the Mingchevir hydroelectric plant where, due to unusually strong heat, some of the system equipment was damaged, explains Etibar Pirverdiev, head of Azerbaijan. There were electricity problems in 39 cities and in the region of Azerbaijan, including in the capital Baku.
Due to the power failure and subway in Baku, the subway system did not work, reported the DPA agency, citing the local APA agency. Several trains were stranded in the tunnels and rescue operations were required to remove the pbadengers. According to the APA, the problems were caused by the testing of a newly refurbished power plant.
