For our concert in Plovdiv we have a great series of sheets. I know the show will be unforgettable, says Judas Priest's guitarist

The Hills of Rock Rock Festival begins tomorrow at the Raven Cbad in Plovdiv. The organizers of Sofia Music Enterprises promise that fans will be able to see dozens of favorite bands in three days and three scenes. The Friday posters are "Sabaton" and the "Judas Priest" and "Iron Maiden" weekends. Hills of Rock is part of the program of Plovdiv 2019 – European Capital of Culture.

Ritchie Faulkner, based in London, joins Judas Priest in 2011 when Kay Kay Downing leaves the group on her own. Prior to that, Richie played in several bands, including Lauren Harris, the daughter of Iron Maiden bbadist Steve Harris. For Ritchie Fowner, Judd singer Rob Halford said, "We call him Richie The Falcon, because when he takes the guitar on stage, he develops such speeds that everything seems to disappear." [19659004] – We are waiting for you at the Hills of Rock Festival this Saturday in Plovdiv. Are you ready for a show in front of an audience that loves you?

– I have been at Judas Priest for many years and I know it will be one of the band's concerts that will remain unforgettable. For me, as a fan, the hottest moment is when Halford appears on the scene of his "Harley Davidson". For Plovdiv we have a large number of songs, we will play new songs and the Judas Priest show itself will be what the audience expects. All this promises an incredible night at the festival. "The next day, Iron Maiden will come on stage, you're kind of connected to the band because you played with Steve's daughter, did you plan to do a total tour with Iron Maiden and other British bands?" , like The Big Four, but with only British bands? – The Big Four was something amazing, I'm sure if the bands in England make such a format, it's fantastic, but it depends on too many people.I present Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and other groups, maybe Mottohead or Deep Purple.Any one will say that Purple does not have its place in the heavyweight, others will be happy .What ever, it's going to be hard to do because "Black Sabbat" has gone on a farewell tour, but no one knows what the future holds, why not hope?

– What has changed since his arrival at Judas Priest? "Ju squ & # 39; here? Is there a difference in the way you feel about visiting?

– I have been welcomed by the family since the beginning. The atmosphere is hard to describe for you – it was very nice. Fans have also welcomed me. We traveled to places where I had not been before, and I had a lot of experience. Our tours still take me to unknown cities, there are fans of Judas who have not seen me yet. It's a great honor for me to be part of this band

and I'm hoping to be there

in a very long time

Sometimes, three generations of fans come to our shows, imagine how c & rsquo Is good! your Firepower album is quite heavy. How were the records going, did anything interesting happen?

– A great team made this album. Before we went to record, we all gathered and played the songs. I think that has not been the case since Painkiller. Many helped the whole process, put emphasis on our work. Imagine playing with Ian, Glenn and Scott, deleting whole songs, adding new ones, changing others to get a natural sound, a different feeling! Our producers made sure that we could work together the whole group before recording the album, and things were rather successful. Firepower has clbadic and modern elements. Now that everything is ready, it's easy to badyze, but we went to the studio with no other plan than to record another heavy and clbadic Priest album. Of course, you can never be sure what will come out exactly, what will sound look like. But with producers like Tom Alom and the amazing Andy Snappe, something really good has come to mind.

– Guitarist Glenn Tipton has abandoned your tour due to advanced parkinsonism. Was it a blow to you and what do you expect in the future?

– We have known for several years that Glenn was not feeling well and that he had been diagnosed with parkinsonism. He tried to keep the secret because it was something very personal, but the time has come when the disease has affected his live performance. That's why Andy Snape (producer, guitarist, bbadist) is on stage with Judas. The group fully supports Glenn in his decisions and we all hope he will be fine. The studio is doing well, but it's different from the stage, the pressure is much less, there are no spots and thousands of people. Live participation is a challenge for every musician while in the studio you have the opportunity to give yourself as much time as you need. If you are wrong, you can even handle it before proceeding to a new file

– Have you discussed the question of whether Kay Kay Downing would replace Glenn or if these are just rumors

– Kay Kay Downing leaving the gang, was entirely his decision. So Judas repeatedly asked him

when he would come back

if he had time to think about it, but he never did. He does not want to be part of the band and the music industry. So it was never a question of returning Downing. And Glen is still in Judas, we do not change it, it's not just the current tour. But even if Glenn decides to end his career, returning to Kay Kay Downing does not think he'll discuss it

– How do you get ready for a live show? , we do not drink a lot of alcohol, we keep our health, so that we can give 100% to the scene. We warm up just before the show, of course. But hard work is for our team. They are the ones who prepare everything – from our clothes to the tools. It's up to us to promote the concerts, give an interview, go where we play and do what we love most. conservative and nothing foolish in our desires. We eat light food before a show, do not drink. It is imperative to have coffee in the locker room, and for me chocolate, I love it. But, see, even if we had crazy desires, I would not have shared them for sure. and it's fun. Well, when you are in the middle of an important call and that a fan wants a photo with you, it's confusing, but it's a few seconds of your life where you can render someone

extremely happy

and see no reason to refuse. "Judas Priest" has many fans around the world who love the band and therefore want autographs, photos, memories. We are happy with this fact. Soon we were in Lisbon. We went out for dinner with Ian, Scott, Rob and Andy. There were metal fans next to us, with whom, of course, we had a whole photo shoot. We were all – we liked artists, we wanted to have a memory with them, it was part of it, and a very good part …

– How do you rest between two performances? go to the supermarket for a walk. It does not sound like a lot of rock'n'roll, on the contrary – boring, but it's a break for me. When I'm at home, I play a lot, write ideas for future songs, because you never know where an idea will come from and it's good for you. 39; have. This tour is my third with Judas Priest, and when I joined the group, I thought I would be with them for one. Where will life take you, how will you evolve, you can not guess. The important thing is that it's inspiring to give me 1000 percent of myself, to create and play the best possible music for Judas fans.

– There is little time in a Facebook fan that you are cleared the negative comments about you, and you have posted a rebuttal of this statement. How do you relate to social media? Are you tired of answering, sharing

– Social media has become an important part for every artist. They are fundamental in terms of connecting people. Me and you can have an idea and let it go online, instantly seen by thousands of people. A global audience is this! Like everything, social media has a dark side, and that's when people's negativism is constantly shifting

It can not be without it, it can not be very good. I grew up in bars and clubs, I can take on myself a very negative attitude. If it is the real opinion of people, I agree to express it, but sometimes I defend myself to know the truth. We as musicians are popular for fans. We love this one, another – these colorful opinions. If you ask me, the enemies do not want to create problems, they just need a little attention and the negative comments provoke it
