Skoda enters the so-called E Mobility era. While the company was initially attentive to the discussion on the issue of "electricity", it is now focusing on electrification as the main source of growth for the future. In addition, Bernhard Meyer, the Skoda chief, said: "Electric cars do not currently have an alternative.
But before proceeding with the electrification, let's first pay attention to the improved Skoda Superb. As expected, there are no blatant design solutions, but Superb is full of all kinds of new systems and technologies.
The most visible novelty on the outside is the LED floodlights, consisting of a basic module and three additional LED segments. The armrests are also new. The length is increased by 8 mm (4869 mm) and in the wagon, the increase is 6 mm (4862 mm). The trunk volume is not changed – 625 l at the elevator, while the wagon continues to offer the largest rack of its segment.
The engines are well known to us, but here is the first surprise. This is the Superb iV, which is the first hybrid model of Skoda. The model is powered by a 156 hp gasoline engine powered by an 85 kW electric motor. The total power is 218 hp. Superb can go up to 55 km just for electricity. With a full of gasoline, the model can travel 850 km without problem.
The latest news comes with Citigoe iV. This is the first all-electric Skoda model. The model is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 82 hp and lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 36.8 kWh allows mileage up to 265 km. This is quite small compared to competitors, but we must not forget the fact that Citigo has a size of 3597 mm. The Citigoe IV should become the most affordable electric car on the European market. During fast charging, the battery can reach 80% of its capacity after 1 AC in the socket.
It should be noted that Superb iV and Citigoe iV are intermediaries. Soon, Skoda will present all-new electric cars. Bernhard Meyer promised that by 2022, the company will launch more than 30 new models, of which 10 will be electric and hybrid.
