Skoda is considering the possibility of opening a factory in Bulgaria.

Skoda and its owner, Volkswagen, are arguing about the factory that the German automaker is going to open in Eastern Europe, writes Automotive News Europe. VW unions want the new plant to be owned and operated by the German brand. At the same time, Škoda is preparing the new plant that will be managed by it, and manages itself the process of study of Bulgaria and Romania, writes the newspaper.

On November 18, Chief Executive Officer Herbert Dice confirmed he was looking for a new plant site in Eastern Europe. According to the German media and Bloomberg, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey are considered as an option.

The need for a new plant is emerging, as VW will start producing electric cars in Emden and will transfer Pbadat to a Skoda factory in the Czech Republic. The new plant will produce Skoda Karoq and Seat Ateca, which are currently manufactured in the Czech Republic. The new facility is expected to reveal 4,000 to 5,000 jobs.
