Up to 3 years, 16,500 households in the capital, heated with solid fuel, will receive badistance from the municipality to replace them with stoves gas, steam or pellet.
The municipality of Sofia is ready with 2 projects. One of them has been submitted to the EC for approval and several municipalities have been involved. This is around 16.6 million euros. The pilot project will replace the facilities of 140 households. They will be heated to gas, steam, electricity or pellet stoves. A major project of the operational program "Environment" is also in preparation.
"In Sofia, 55,000 households are heated with household solid fuel, our goal is to replace the facilities by 30% of these families in the last three years," said Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.
She verified how the filter was installed on the chimney of the BKS building in the Krasna Polyana region. One company donated 10 filters to the municipality. The price of one is 3500 BGN. According to the data, the filters reduce emissions by about 80%.
Fandakova discussed with the Minister of Social Affairs, Biser Petkov, that the heating aid should include alternative sources so that badistance to families whose facilities will be replaced will continue.
From April to October in Sofia, there was not a single day with an excess of fine particles. The heating season has arrived and we have already overtaken, said Fandakova.
