1943: Ingvar Camprad registers his IKEA company I come from Ingvar, K – from Kamprad, E – on behalf of his family farm Elmtaryd, and A – from the village of Agunnaryd in which he grew up

1948: IKEA started offering elegant and modern furniture

1951: The first IKEA catalog distributed for free – as today.

1956: The furniture becomes part of the IKEA concept.
