Up to now, McLaren's next "Hyper-GT" car – which is being faster than the legendary 243 mph McLaren F1 – has been designated by the code name BP23. This is a name that was never going to stick, so the British supercar builder announced that the car will be called Speedtail when it goes on sale

The Speedtail will be a three-seater, the same as the F1, with the driver sitting in the center and the other two seats being slightly late and on each side.Mlaren CEO Mike Flewitt insisted at this year's Geneva Motor Show, although what we now know that the Speedtail will make tribute to the first c road vehicle company, he will not be the direct successor of F1. Instead, Flewitt says the Speedtail will be "a car designed for long journeys, but with the high levels of performance and driver engagement expected of any McLaren." Basically, everything points to the Speedtail being McLaren's answer to the Bugatti Chiron.

Only 106 Speedtails will be produced by McLaren, and despite their attractive price tag of $ 2.1 each, each of them is already talked about. To be fair, for this price, McLaren says that the Speedtail will not only be the fastest road car ever built by the company, it will also be the most luxurious.

The power and torque figures are what everyone wants to know about the new car, but for the moment, McLaren remains discreet on the subject. What we do know is that the Speedtail will be powered by a hybrid powertrain likely to see an electric motor mated with the 4.0 liter dual turbocharged V8 engine already seen in the new 720S. A number of new technologies are also being tested for the Speedtail, such as digital mirrors.
Each of the 106 cars will be specially adapted to the tastes of their future owners by the McLaren Special Operations Unit. And although production does not start until the end of the year 2019, a full public revelation of the car is expected before the end of 2018.
