Minister of Defense Krbadimir Karakachanov of the Council of Ministers has been authorized to spend more than BGN 198 million for major repairs to the MiG-29 and Su-25 fighters.
The government approved the two repairs of warplanes and allowed it to sign the contracts.
BGN 81.3 million excluding VAT, nearly BGN 99 million, will cost the revision of eight MiG-29 fighters. This should be done so that these planes can keep the airspace of Bulgaria until the purchase of new fighter jets for which a competition is currently underway.
The government has also allocated an extra 45.7 million leva to the Ministry of Defense to begin repairing the contract with Russian aircraft manufacturer RK MiG.
Just over 99 million levers, VAT is the value of the contract of the Belarusian repairer for Su-25 aircraft. Yesterday, the government lent 82.5 million BGN without VAT to the army this year to launch the contract.
The Su-25 repair is also related to the provision of Air Force capabilities to purchase new multipurpose fighter aircraft, even if these aircraft are not subject to a flight safety requirement.
