Doctors at a Plovdiv hospital have removed an 11-kilogram tumor from the uterus of a 51-year-old patient, the hospital said.
The team that operated the woman was led by the gynecologist Dr. Anton Mihnev.
The huge myoma was discovered by accident, although for three years the woman felt fat, but she thought the changes were perfectly normal for that age. She has not consulted a doctor but has recently been the subject of a prophylactic examination.
After the blood tests, her doctor immediately referred her to a gynecologist because she found a large tumor in the abdomen.
"During the examination at Medline Hospital, the diagnosis was confirmed – a huge body that squeezed all the internal organs – the thick and small intestines, the ureter, even stretched to the diaphragm"said gynecologist Dr. Valentina Vangelova, involved in the operation, and that the patient was breathing while walking, especially when going up the stairs.
"For this year, it is the third huge tumor that we remove with my team, but we treated fifteen other women for which the training did not reach 10 kg, but they were half less" said Dr. Mihnev. – For all the reasons, one is – neglected prevention by the patients. They do not visit the AG cabinet at least once a year, although this is mandatory even if they do not complain. "
The doctor pointed out that only regular examinations could relieve them from the formation of large tumors that resulted in more severe interventions, a longer recovery period and, in some cases, degeneration in malignant formations.
Early in the year, Dr. Michnev's team operated on an 85-year-old woman to remove an 18-kilogram ovarian tumor.
