More than a month ago, there was an extraordinary noise of open vulnerability in the communication by e-mail. Then it was rumored that the end was the end of the opportunity to communicate via email with secret messages. The vulnerability even had its own name – eFail and logo.
The problem was that when sending a secure email, it can still be read when it uses active HTML content. Disabling HTML largely solves the problem, but not entirely because even if your email client is secure, if the recipient uses a vulnerable one, the attack can still succeed.
The developers clarified that it is not a general problem and took steps to solve it. Mozilla Thunderbird users will be among the first, protected by eFail. In the new version of the 52.9.0 client, this issue has been resolved, and several other security vulnerabilities have been blocked, including a serious threat to Windows 10 users.
