We are reaching the mid-point of the year and the 4×4 sales race is surprisingly close – unsurprisingly – to Toyota's Ford Ranger and Hilux, the Japanese brand in front of the head of a lean 21 units.

It was also a solid year for the Mitsubishi Triton 4×4, which was purchased 12,187 times. In fact, the Hilux, Ranger and Triton were the three most sold cars in June when you combine 4×4 and 4×2 variants. The Triton has even pulled out the ever popular Toyota Corolla (3780 sales) and Hyundai i30 (3547 sales).

In June, the Ranger 4×4 sold the Hilux 4×4 of 204 units, while the Triton saw a 36% increase in monthly sales. In contrast, the new Mercedes-Benz X-Clbad has found its place only in 218 new homes

The LCV market remains stable with 28,346 sales recorded in June 2018 (28,253 sales recorded in June 2017) . So far in 2018, 122,895 light commercial vehicle sales have been registered (as of the same date last year this number was 118,995). The LCV segment now accounts for 20.3% of the total market, compared to 19.8% in June 2017.

SUV sales continue to strengthen and the segment holds the majority of sales (43.1%). In fact, the June 2018 results indicate that SUV sales increased by 9.3% compared to June 2017.

Despite a general market decline – new car sales declined by 2.9% compared with the same period last year (130,300 compared with 134,171), which is largely attributable to the decline in the pbadenger car market (down 17.9% compared to June 2017).
