The Volkswagen Group unveils – a successful first half in history after the sale of 5.5 million cars. For the month of June alone, deliveries amounted to 958.6 thousand, according to a report from the German group

"This was the first most successful semester in the history of our company, deliveries of our leading brands grew strongly in the first half of the year, "said Fred Kappler, group sales director, in a statement. He noted, however, that the company expects sales in the second half of the year to reflect the introduction of the new test emission in the WLTP standard. "We will probably give our customers a lot of cars later than expected," he said. The new WLTP standard exhaust test comes into force in September and will be mandatory for new cars

Improvement by region

From January to June, the German car manufacturer, the largest car manufacturer in the world, has sold 5.5 million vehicles. This represents an increase of 7.1% on an annual basis. In June, sales increased by 4.1% compared to the same month of 2017

The group improved its sales growth in Europe in June, with 456.8 thousand cars delivered, an increase of 11% on an annual basis. Nearly 131,000 of these cars were sold on the German market. For the first half of the year, 2.4 million cars were sold on the Old Continent, an increase of 6.5%
