In 2018, Volvo Trucks introduced Vera as a solution for recurring operations in logistics centers, factories and ports. The car is suitable for the high-precision transportation of large volumes of short-range goods.
The connected system will consist of several Vera vehicles controlled by a control tower. This will allow a regular and steady flow that meets the requirements of greater efficiency, flexibility and durability.
The collaboration with DFDS is the first step in Vera's implementation of a real transport mission with a predetermined route on public roads in an industrial area.
The standalone transportation solution will be better adapted to technology, operations management and infrastructure improvement before becoming fully operational. In addition, the necessary safety precautions will be taken in accordance with existing requirements.
