I don’t know what you call a 360 degree no-scope where it’s actually two 180 degree turns on different axes. Awesome dang? Let’s go with that. The sleek and slippery FPS Severed Steel stunt seems to let you do one of those in slow-mo glory as you make your way through a tower of villains. A new trailer shows off all the chaos you’ll find yourself in as Steel the vengeful sniper.
Among other games, Severed Steel is inspired by other first-person games such as Mirror’s Edge and FEAR. The single player adventure has destructible environments and plenty of bullet time tricks that you can play with on racing circles around bad guys. Oh, you can’t reload though. No, you will need to grab a new weapon when you run out.
“It’s you, your trigger finger and a steel-tipped boot against a superstructure full of bad guys,” say Greylock Studios. “Chain walls, dives, flips, and slides to take down all the last enemies.” You can grab all of that and kick some people around in this trailer.
“I want Severed Steel to make players feel like they are entering a state of flux in a chaotic environment,” says developer Matt Larrabee. “I want them to find themselves diving into the air, there are only a few bullets left in their magazine, with bullets hissing, rockets ripping through the environment, but they feel if they stay sharp they can. carry.”
It does indeed look like a glorious mess. Sliding down stairs and on counters and jumping over enemies is one thing. Blowing up the walls though, it sounds like a recipe for silly no-AI shenanigans.
Severed Steel plans to launch in the second half of 2021. You can find it on Steam until then.
