When Whitaker opened his front door to go to Alexandria Kindergarten on Wednesday, he was greeted by the location of a street lined with hundreds of yellow vehicles . There were all kinds of yellow vehicles, ranging from fire trucks to a Maserati. There were even a few vehicles of construction equipment.
Whitaker was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer developing from nerve cells, at the age of 13 months, said his mother, Erin.
"He has had many surgeries, many chemotherapy sessions, two bone marrow transplants, radiation and antibody therapy," she said in her Facebook post.
"It's been stable for about a year, and we're ready to celebrate it!"
As she approached her four birthday, she undertook to give her an extra surprise. She first published a Facebook call in August.
"So we had this idea that maybe, the morning of his birthday, when we leave to drive him to kindergarten, we could have our street lined with yellow cars!"
People from all over have helped make this four-year-old's birthday a remembrance he will always remember.
The story of Whitaker even reached Jeremy Levy, the actor who expressed Bumblebee in Transformers: Cyberverse. Levy told CNN that he had talked to Whitaker and made him a personalized message from Bumblebee.
Even those who could not come Wednesday sent him Bumblebee-inspired gifts. A gift came from Tesla, who donated a small yellow car customized for him, reported WJLA.
