The Burberry fashion brand apologized for introducing a hooded sweatshirt with a noose at its fashion show at London Fashion Week.

The retailer said that he had removed the item from his collection after critics of one of his own models had resulted in an online reaction.

"We are deeply sorry for the distress caused by any of the products featured in our A / W 2019 fashion show collection," said Marco Gobbetti, CEO of Burberry, in a statement sent to CNN.

"Although the design was inspired by the marine theme of the collection, it was insensitive and we made a mistake," he added.

The model was criticized by model Liz Kennedy, who featured in the series but claimed that her concerns regarding the use of a noose had been ruled out.
