LINCOLN, Neb. (CNN) – When a group of Burger King employees in Nebraska quit their jobs due to working conditions, they left a sign outside the restaurant saying, “We all quit. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Staff at a Burger King restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska, say they are upset by the restaurant’s working conditions, such as a broken air conditioning in the kitchen that pushed temperatures up into the ’90s.

Principal Rachael Flores says she ended up in the hospital to receive fluids for the dehydration. When she gave him two weeks’ notice, eight of her employees did the same. At the end of that period, they left a message for management on the sign outside the store. He said, “We have all stopped. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

“We wanted them to laugh a lot, so all of the ‘we all quit’ was mostly for them,” said Flores. “It was just more or less taking turns because it’s actually quite tiring to put the letters up there.”

It was around 6 a.m. when Flores helped another resigning worker change the letters on the sign. Hours later, she received a call from senior management telling her the sign needed to be removed.

“I told her I couldn’t do this because we were understaffed and lunch was just beginning,” she said.

Soon another boss arrived to ask for his key and card. After a total of about six hours, the “We all quit” sign was replaced with one that read, “Now you are hiring. Flexible hours.

Burger King issued a statement regarding the situation.

“The work experience described here is not in line with our brand values. Our franchisee is looking into this situation to make sure it doesn’t happen again in the future, ”we read.
