LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – After a successful test in Mexico City, the Burger King fast food chain will begin delivering food to drivers stranded in traffic in Los Angeles in what they dubbed The Traffic Jam Whopper.
According to several reports, the DDR service will use motorcycles to deliver food to people trapped in traffic jams, using real-time data to locate Burger King fans on the road.
Drivers are welcome to order from a Burger King app when they are in a delivery area, about 3 km from the nearest Burger King restaurant.
To ensure security and avoid tickets, the application used to place orders will operate using voice commands.
The orders in the trial were limited to a Whopper meal, including fries and a choice of bottled Pepsi or water.
Once the order is placed, Burger King motorcycle deliverymen use Google Map technology via the app to locate the driver.
Deliveries would normally take place within 15 minutes of ordering.
