A The BuzzFeed News reporter suggested on Twitter that the administration of President Trump would provoke further indignation at the deadly attacks in Sri Lanka if the victims were white.

"We would suspect Trump and company of outraging more outrage if the Christians killed in Sri Lanka were white," Elder tweeted with a link to the BuzzFeed News article about the attacks.
elders tweet was "proportionate", which meant that the number of comments was significantly higher than the number of retweets and likes, a sign of widespread negative feedback. Several users criticized Elder for his almost instantaneous politicization of attacks that killed more than 200 people, including US citizens.
A spokesman for BuzzFeed declined to comment.
