Challenges
For BYU: The Cougars are looking to get off to a good start in the West Coast Conference game, which a win over the nation’s top team would certainly accomplish. A win would also go a long way in boosting the resumption of the BYU NCAA tournament.
For Gonzaga: The Bulldogs have been the best team in the country and are looking to continue their strong start. Avenging last year’s loss to the Cougars would be an added bonus.

For Gonzaga: The Bulldogs have won 33 straight games excluding last February’s loss to the Cougars (they beat BYU in January 2020, 92-69).

Team schedules can of course change in the blink of an eye this season (this game is a prime example), but the Cougars are set to face Saint Mary’s on the road on Jan. 14, while the Bulldogs are set to play in Portland. on the road on Saturday.
