BYU is back in the top 10.
The Cougars are ranked No.10 in the latest Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls released on Sunday, after a crazy weekend of college football.
There has been a lot of reshuffle in the polls following the loss of nine ranked teams on Saturday.
This included five teams – Oregon, Notre Dame, Florida, Arkansas and Mississippi – ranked ahead of BYU in the AP poll which lost on Saturday, and another, Texas A&M, which lost and was ranked ahead of the Cougars in the coaches poll. .
This allowed the Cougars to jump three places in the AP poll and five in the Coaches poll.
BYU (5-0), after a 34-20 victory over Utah State, hosts Boise State next Saturday. The Broncos are 2-3 after losing to Nevada.
This is the second consecutive season that BYU has placed in the top 10. The Cougars entered the top 10 of both polls in October 2020.
While the top two have remained the same in both polls – Alabama at No. 1 and Georgia at No. 2 – there is a new top 5. Iowa is No. 3 and Penn State is No. 4 in both. polls, with Cincinnati, a 24-th 13 winner over Notre Dame, at No. 5 in the AP and Oklahoma, winner 37-31 over Kansas State, at No. 5 in Coaches.
Oregon, despite losing to unranked Stanford, remained ahead of BYU, 8th in the AP poll and 9th in coaching.
Arizona State, which beat No. 20 UCLA, is the only other Pac-12 team in the standings this week, moving up in the polls to No. 22 in PA and No. 25 in coaching.
