A California radiology technician died earlier this month, just four days after receiving his second dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report.
Tim Zook, 60, died at UC Irvine Medical Center on Jan.9 after first falling ill at the South Coast Global Medical Center – where he worked – hours after receiving the second stroke, the Orange County Register reported .
Zook, a married father of three, had shared his enthusiasm on Facebook after completing the vaccination.
“Never been so excited to have a photo before,” he wrote on Jan.5, according to the report. “I am now fully vaccinated after receiving my second dose of Pfizer.”
His rapid decline in health and his ultimate death left his wife, Rochelle Zook, searching for answers.
She said that aside from the high blood pressure, which was controlled with medication, and a slight overweight, her husband was in good health.
“We don’t blame any pharmaceutical company,” Rochelle told the newspaper. “But when someone has symptoms two and a half hours after a vaccine, it’s a reaction. What else could have happened?
“The message is, be careful, take the vaccine – but officials need to do more research. We need to know the cause. Vaccines should be as safe as possible. Every life matters, ”she says.
Tim’s cause of death, which has not yet been determined, is currently under investigation by the Orange County coroner, according to the report.
“If it is determined that there may be a correlation with the vaccine, we will immediately notify the OC Health Care Agency,” Carrie Braun, spokesperson for the coroner’s office, told the newspaper.
California Health and Human Services are also investigating deaths in states possibly related to the vaccine.
