Cadillac plans more Blackwing V-Series performance cars

It is safe to say that the new Cadillac Blackwing models are the pride and joy of the American automaker. The CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing represent the fastest models in the V series and are a reminder of the brand’s motorsport heritage. In fact, the CT5-V Blackwing is the most powerful Cadillac of all time, demonstrating the extent of what the manufacturer can do.

But Cadillac doesn’t stop there – at least according to Cadillac Chief Engineer Tony Roma in an interview with GM Authority. Roma said there was more to come, although he was a bit cautious in disclosing details.

Roma pointed out that there is indeed an extension of the V-Series line. “You will see more of it in the future. We will do more of the V-Series. It is important for our brand and you will see it on other products,” he said in the GM Authority report.

As for Blackwing, Roma would like to remind the public that the Blackwing badge is exclusive to the high-end V-series Cadillacs. There are more on the way, but don’t expect that on every vehicle they make, specifically excluding a Blackwing Escalade in the plans. He hinted, however, that an Escalade V-Series or an Escalade-V could happen.

This isn’t the first time we’ve come across the idea of an Escalade-V. Last year, Dave Schiavone, Cadillac Escalade Product Manager, admitted that there is a demand for a more powerful Escalade-V. Schiavone hasn’t guaranteed his arrival though, so don’t expect that just yet.

Rumor has it that the Escalade-V could be equipped with the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 as the CT5-V Blackwing that produces 668 horsepower (498 kilowatts) and 659 pound-feet (893 Newton-meters) of twists. Then again, these are still rumors, so take them lightly.
